Virginia Crossings Resort Receives Coveted AAA Four Diamond Award
RICHMOND, VIRGINIA, November 23, 2004 … Virginia Crossings Resort has been honored with the prestigious Four Diamond Award by the American Automobile Association (AAA). Scott Spurlock, general manager, made the announcement on behalf of the resort, which is managed by Benchmark Hospitality International of The Woodlands (Houston), Texas.
"We are extremely pleased to have received this award," stated Mr. Spurlock. "The entire service team at Virginia Crossings actively participated in earning this recognition and we accept it on everyone's behalf. It is an honor to be recognized nationally as a Four Diamond resort."
Michael Petrone, director, AAA Tourism Information Development, stated "earning a Diamond Rating means that a property has undergone a rigorous evaluation process." Petrone continued, "AAA's Diamond Rating System is the most respected restaurant and lodging rating system in the industry. Having a Diamond Rating tells travelers and guests about the quality of facilities and services they can expect."
AAA evaluates more than 44,000 properties each year. Approved properties are included in AAA's popular TourBook travel guides, and also have the opportunity to be included in many of the 200 retail travel guidebooks published by AAA each year.
To be considered for AAA approval and rating, lodging facilities and restaurants undergo a thorough inspection by one of AAA's 65 full-time, professional evaluators. AAA first started listing accommodation information in its travel publications in the early 1900s. In 1937, the first field inspectors were hired, and the current Diamond Rating System was introduced in 1977.
As North America's largest motoring and leisure travel organization, AAA provides nearly 47 million members with travel, insurance, financial and automotive-related services. Since its founding in 1902, the not-for-profit, fully tax-paying AAA has been a leader and advocate for the safely and security of all travelers.
Virginia Crossings Resort is a Benchmark hotel that offers 183 guest rooms, a full service restaurant, sports lounge and, adjoining, The Crossings Golf Club, a Joe Lee designed championship course that is one of the most playable and scenic 18-hole courses in Virginia. The hotel is 90 miles from Washington DC, 90 miles from Norfolk and 75 miles from Charlottesville. Richmond International Airport is just 20 minutes away.
